Ultravox - "Whiskey All Round" 30th December 1979

http://www.4shared.com/rar/qIVYr5eL/Numaboots-UV-Whiskey_79.html?

I got an email yesterday asking if I could re-up the Ultravox and the John Foxx posts which should all now be live again. While I was doing this I realised I had some other Ultravox recordings I hadn't posted so here is one of those now!

This is titled "Whiskey All Round" and is from the American tour at the end of 1979 shortly after the departure of Foxx and before the release of the "Vienna" album. It's an audience recording which has some intrusive moments of conversation (that is unless you want to know what someone thinks of the new Jam album!) but the music is good and the band have a good vibe even in the "new streamlined" line up!

Glasgow Apollo 20th September 1979 (Touring Principle '79)

This is the opening night of The Touring Principle '79 as asked for in the requests thread.

Please note that this isn't of the usual sound quality that I like to post on Numa Boots but is presented here to fill the request. This is one for completists only! If you have a better recording of this show please let me know!

DJ Vanian from the excellent Sanctum Sanctorum podcast has given this recoding a bit of a sound overhaul to take some of the roughness out of it.

Many thanks to DJ Vanian for his work on this and be sure to check out his podcast which is essential listening fot Numan fans! http://www.podomatic.com/profile/vampyre21-uk43664

Ultravox - Oregon, U.S.A. November 1979 (SBD)

Ultravox after the departure of John Foxx. Fronted by Midge Ure but before the release of the breakthrough "Vienna" album. Sound is very clear (almost too clear as with very little crowd noise you lose some of the atmosphere - I have a later audience recording from the Whiskey A Go Go which is a little more raw so leave a comment if you want me to post that too!). I am pulling the Billy Currie card again to justify the appearance of this on Numa Boots or just the fact that it's a great recording!

Excellent sound, this was broadcast on the London Wavelength Concert Hour. 1979 the ! has gone from the name and John Foxx would soon follow. This also features an Ultravox version of "He's A Liquid" which would see light the following year on the excellent John Foxx album "Metamatic".

We all know the historic importance of the Tubeway Army appearances on the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test and Top Of The Pops - this was Numan on the verge of breaking through. Here are the audios of the 2 songs played, fresh and amazing even after all these years!
