Troxy, London, England 2nd April 2011 (Aud) (Back To The Phuture)

Here it is - The Troxy!!! Probably the most asked for show on Numa Boots at the moment, after waiting to see if a complete recording of this show would appear it still as of yet it hasn't. So what we have here is what has become known at Numa Boots as the Frankenstein Troxy! This is for those who really want this show (and what an amazing show it was!). This has been compiled from various fan postings on youtube and reassembled into the correct running order with two exceptions...firstly we couldn't find the new track "When The Sky Bleeds, He Will Come" so that is listed below but isn't included in the download. Secondly we couldn't find a Troxy version of "Crawl" so we have included the version played the night before in Manchester for continuity. The audio quality of this varies greatly but it is as complete an experience as we can currently offer.

Many many thanks go to those who recorded and uploaded their phone footage that breathed life into this Frankensteins Monster!

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JQ23JKKC

This is a pretty decent audience source from the Exile tour, the set list is great and the band are on form. The only real issue is once again Gary's vocals aren't high enough in the mix (you can hear fans between songs calling for the vocals to be turned up). Despite that this is well worth a listen.

This one may or may not be tagged correctly as there seems to be a few boots circulating listing 3 different dates/venues from the Australian leg of "The Touring Principle 80" Tour but this came to me as being from Brisbane. The main reason for posting this one is that to my ears it has a better sound quality than the one currently posted on the excellent Numan Folder site which hopefully you all visit regularly! So if you have this one already then in my opinion this is worth getting to compare the sound and posting it here makes it easier for the guys who run The Numan Folder to grab it too!

Academy, Bristol, England 26th July 2007 (Aud) (Mini Tour)

In July 2007 Gary under took a mini tour consisting of just a handful of dates designed primarily to promote the launch of the "Jagged Live" album and dvd. The set list for these shows however was anything but a re tread of the Jagged tour, of particular note are the inclusion of "The Leather Sea" from Ade Fenton's "Artificial Perfect" album and the decision to play some very early Tubeway Army tracks that hadn't been played for a very long time! To keep the sound of the early tracks the band stripped down to just guitars, bass and drums as Gary tore through "This Is My Life", "Basic J" and "Friends", a truly great moment. This is another audience source but isn't half bad and with a set list like this it's worth it!

The cover of the album might still make you cringe (was that Gary's Miami Vice moment?!) but "The Fury" had it's moments, this is an audience source from the first of the 2 Hammersmith Odeon shows played at the beginning of October. Sound wise it's an odd one, the vocals are pretty clear and the music is fuller than other recordings I've heard from this tour but it still has a "tinnyness" to it. As I haven't come across much from this tour yet this is the best that I currently have, remember to drop me a line if you have any Numan bootleg that you love and let's see if we can get it posted for all at Numa Boots! Nine Inch Nails - The Wiltern, Los Angeles, CA U.S.A. 10th September 2009 (Aud) (Wave Goodbye Tour)

Here it is, the final night of the "Wave Goodbye" tour and as you would expect it was always going to be something pretty special. Clocking in at a mere 3 and a quarter hours and featuring a whole host of special guests and no less than 3 encores this is a great sounding audience recording which again features the Mike Garson instrumental version of "Down In The Park" before Gary comes on for the full band version. "Metal" is there as expected but instead of the usual "Cars" we get treated to "I Die You Die". This was a fitting farewell to the live NIN, let's hope it's not too long before we see them again!

Excellent sound, this was broadcast on the London Wavelength Concert Hour. 1979 the ! has gone from the name and John Foxx would soon follow. This also features an Ultravox version of "He's A Liquid" which would see light the following year on the excellent John Foxx album "Metamatic".

I thought long and hard about whether to post these or not as it's the first thing that isn't directly featuring Gary Numan to appear on Numa Boots. However I know that many of you will like to hear these excellent soundboard recordings of Ultravox! with John Foxx on vocals. Now if I had to justify the inclusion on Numa Boots I could go for the Billy Currie angle or the recent live dates with John Foxx, but as I don't have to justify it I'll leave it to you to decide whether you want these or not!

Hammersmith Odeon, London, England 12th December 1984 (Aud) (Berserker Tour)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TQKUMUW4

This is the last night of the Beserker tour and the night after what was released on the "White Noise" album and "Cold Warning" dvd. As you would expect the set list is identical to those releases, this is an audience source which is pretty good in general despite the odd murky patch. Gary does some end of tour thank you's just before "Are "Friends" Electric?" closes the night making this a little different and a good companion to the official releases.

After Gary's amazing appearence with Nine Inch Nails at London's 02 Arena he was asked by Trent Reznor to come out to America and do the same on some of the final dates on the Wave Goodbye Tour. This is the penultimate date that NIN played (it was re-scheduled from the previous week due to Trent being ill) before they "waved goodbye", at least for now.

This is a great sounding audience source and you get 2 hours and 45 minutes of NIN going out in style! Gary isn't the only guest that night as you also get Mike Garson (Bowie/NIN/Smashing Pumpkins), Eric Avery (Jane's Addiction), HEALTH, Danny Lohner (NIN/Marilyn Manson)  and Greg Puciato(The Dillenger Escape Plan). Instead of just the usual performance of "Metal" and "Cars" we also get  solo piano and full band versions of "Down In The Park".

I know I'm not the only NIN fan out there in Gary's fanbase so I've posted this as the full gig and not just Gary's guest slot and will be posting more from this tour in the future. The encore also has some rarely played Joy Division covers....what are you still waiting for? Grab this show now!

Bogarts, Cininnati, OH, USA 27th April 2001 (Aud) (Pure Tour)

O.k. this one needs a few disclaimers....this is an audience recording and is marred by a lot of talkers near the taper, this is very evident between songs and in quieter moments (especially during the intros). The mix is fairly weird as it is very vocal and drum heavy which makes it quiet a different listen. Great show when you get past these obstacles but this one won't be for everyone so decide for yourself!

VH-1 Session June 1997

Live session for the music channel VH-1, only 3 tracks but an interesting selection. "Dark" obviously to promote the "Exile" album from that year, an early version of what would become "Pure" then closing with a makeover of "Noise Noise" that works pretty well.

The Times Podcast - The Mighty Boosh Interview (2006) (FM)

A fantastic podcast where Gary is interviewed by Noel Fielding from The Mighty Boosh, well they sort of interview each other!

Guilfest Festival, Stoke Park, Guildford, England 15th July 2006 (Highlights) (FM?)

In 2006 Gary played the ever popular and eclectic Guilfest Festival in Guildford. Here we have just 3 tracks of the 11 track set Gary played that day and judging from the quality these were part of a broadcast of the festival (?) While I hate posting parts of sets some is better than none, right?

Another decent audience recording from the tour that keeps giving! The third date on The Pleasure Principle Anniversary Tour and it's fantastic! One from the American Jagged Tour 2006. I've often heard complaints at Numan gigs that Gary's vocals aren't high enough in the mix so that's why I'm posting this one....an audience source which loses some of the fullness of the band but Gary's vocals are nice and clear!

Interview BBC 6 15th March 2011 (FM)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KW434M22

Short(ish) interview at about 13 minutes from BBC 6 on the Nemone show (is it just me or does she sound like Janice Long?). This one is essential listening as Gary is actually pinned down on release dates for "Dead Son Rising" and "Splinter". Primarily he is meant to be promoting the "Back To The Phuture" shows but on top of that you get comments about the new Battles album, Gary's reaction to Bill Bailey's version of "Cars" and a studio version of "The Fall".
