This is a very atmospheric audience recording from the tail end of the "Fury Tour" and while it isn't the best sound you have ever heard there is something about it that just seems right. Gary's vocals are high in the mix and nice and clear but this won't be one for those seeking perfection. It is a very good listen and a good document of a tour that sometimes gets over looked.

Astoria, London, England 10th October 1988 (Metal Rhythm Tour)

This is the first of the 3 night stint that concluded the end of the "Metal Rhythm" tour at London's Astoria.  The official release "The Skin Mechanic - Live" captured the date at The Dominion Theatre which was just across the road (It's very sad to think that the Astoria no longer exsists) wasn't the full set which you have presented here. Quality wise this is a very good audience recording and comes again from our friends over at The Numan Folder - many thanks as always!

This is a fantastic recording from one of the last few dates on the Emotion Tour in 1991. The vocals are very high in the mix which is always nice. The set list is very much from the "now" rather than a lot of classic older material with only "Me! I Disconnect From You", "Cars" and "Are "Friends" Electric?" making it in. The arrangement of the latter will be hated by purists as it brings a funk element to the track and intro especially.

This is a 4 part BBC Radio 6 documentary looking at the history of the synthesizer and features many different bands and artists. Numan features briefly and is also mentioned by others like John Foxx and Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley from the Human League. It's an interesting listen and spans a variety of musical genres.

After the Pure Tour in 2001 the following year was a quiet one in terms of live shows with only 5 dates being played. 3 dates were played in September for the "Exposure" mini tour and 2 dates in April, one in London and this one from Manchester. This is another great post from the Tarquin Live blog site (and is the site of the original taper!) it is another post of the entire show as one file and all I have done is converted it to mp3.

In July Numan played 2 Festival dates for the Ben & Jerry sponsored Sundae Festival first appearing at Heaton Park, Manchester on Saturday 23rd then Clapham Common in London the following day. This is a pretty decent audience recording of the Heaton Park date.
